Enrolments: Enrolments are taken over the telephone on (03) 9699 1426/ 0409 519 481, via e-mail info@language-matters.com.au or online www.language-matters.com.au.

Payments: Payment for course and textbooks must be made prior to the commencement of your course.

Registration at first lesson: Students are asked to register ten minutes prior to their first lesson. All enrolment forms need to be handed in at this time, if not earlier. Tax receipts are issued upon request and mailed or handed out in class during the second lesson of term.

Class Size: Classes vary from 6 to 10 students, with an average of 8 students per class. The minimum class size is 6. Groups with 5 students or less will be cancelled and every student enrolled in such group will be contacted by phone and e-mail at least 36 hours prior to course commencement.

Course books: Books can be ordered via Language Matters and are to be paid for in advance along with your tuition fees. Course books are then available for collection at your first lesson, or earlier by appointment. Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements to obtain the relevant course material.

Refunds: A refund, less 10% processing fee, will be given if students apply for refund at least two working days prior to commencement of the course, after which time, fees are not refundable. Course books cannot be refunded once they have been collected.

Late Payments: All payments are due prior to the commencement of your course. Late payments will incur a $10 processing fee.

Credits: Credit can be arranged for those who are forced to withdraw from classes through extreme circumstances in the first two weeks of term only. A Credit Note will be issued for the balance of the term. Please note that credit enrolments are subject to vacancies in a class at the commencement of the course.

Missed classes: A student who enrols in a course enrols for the duration of the course and no pro rata rate applies. If a class is missed for personal reasons, Language Matters cannot be held responsible and a no refund policy applies. A catch-up lesson must be organised with at least 48 hours notice subject to the teacher’s availability. Catch-up lessons are offered at the following rates:

  • For one lesson missed a 15-minute catch-up lesson can be organised at $15.
  • For two lessons missed a 30-minute catch-up lesson can be organised at $30.

If more than 3 classes have been missed, catch-up lessons do not apply. Private tuition at normal private tuition rates can be organised subject to the student’s approval and teacher’s availability.

Course Transfers: Transfers into another level will be considered upon recommendation of the teacher and discussion with the course co-ordinator.

Public Holidays: No classes are held on public holidays in Victoria. Replacement sessions will be added at the end of the course.

Discount & Concession rates: 10% discount on course fees applies to Health Care Card Holders (aged pension, unemployed, disability, sole parent) and full-time tertiary students. Concession rates require enclosing or presenting supporting documentation.

Privacy statement: Certain personal information needs to be collected in order to offer efficient services. We will only collect information from you with your knowledge and consent; only use personal information provided by you for the purpose/s for which it was collected, not disclose your personal information to a third party without your prior consent, ensure that your personal information is not disclosed to other institutions except if required by law or other regulation, and we will remove your personal information from our system when it is no longer required.
