The Working with Children Act 2005 has been designed to help protect children from physical and sexual harm, and as a result of the act Language Matters is required to meet a number of different obligations. Further information can be found at

All teachers, tutors and teaching assistants, class volunteers and office staff at Language Matters hold a valid WWC Check Card. Teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) are exempt from the WWC.

Language Matters keeps a copy of the WWCC/ VIT card for each of our employees and contractors  and reviews these twice a year to ensure that all cards are still valid and renewals are being undertaken by WWC Check Card or VIT holders. All information pertaining to WWC Checks and holders is to be held both in line with Language Matters Privacy Policy and the requirements of the Act.
