Hänsel & Gretel Opera at the Arts Centre – sung in German with English subtitles

Filled with magic and beautiful music, this specially abridged version of Engelbert Humperdinck’s masterpiece Hansel and Gretel, is the perfect introduction for young audiences to an enchanting world of opera. Hansel and Gretel, two mischievous children are sent into the forest and discover a gingerbread house and its unpleasant owner, a wicked witch who eats children.

Following last year’s sell-out public performances of Puss in Boots on subscription, Victorian Opera subscribers are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. Featuring opera’s bright young things, the students of the Master of Music (Opera Performance), a collaboration between Victorian Opera and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, the University of Melbourne.

Melbourne's multiculturalism is an excellent way to enhance language learning by implementing‚ hands-on’ activities such as going to international movie screenings, eating in authentic restaurants and meeting with native speakers at social events.
Language Matters organises a selection of cultural activities on a regular basis, where people of many nationalities get together to practise their language skills. Many of the activities that we organise are free of charge. However, some social outings such as the visits to museums, sampling foreign cuisines, movie screenings and special events are not. Nevertheless, we always do our best to arrange more favourable costs and prcing deals for our learners.

I really like the informal manner in which classes are conducted with the delightful and very French tutor Murielle. I also enjoy the social events which are arranged for the students’ benefit.
